How this calculator works

Your lease allows a fixed number of miles per year. This tool takes your allowance, your lease dates, and your two odometer readings, and projects where you'll land: on pace, under, or over — plus the estimated dollar charge if you enter your contract's per-mile fee.

If your lease has already ended, it switches from a projection to your actual result.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I go over my lease's mileage limit?

At lease-end, the leasing company charges a per-mile overage fee for every mile past your contracted allowance. The fee and the allowance are both set in your lease contract — check your paperwork for the exact number.

How is the overage charge calculated?

Multiply the miles you're over your total allowance by your contract's per-mile rate: overage miles × fee per mile. This calculator projects the overage from your current pace if your lease hasn't ended yet, or uses your final odometer reading if it has.

What's a typical per-mile overage fee?

Roughly $0.15–$0.30 per mile is a commonly cited range (Edmunds, LeaseGuide), but it varies by leasing company and is set in your contract — use your own rate, not a typical one, for an accurate estimate.

Can I buy extra miles mid-lease?

Many leasing companies let you purchase additional miles before lease-end, often at a lower rate than the turn-in overage fee. Ask your leasing company whether a mileage add-on is available on your contract.

What if I'm under my mileage allowance?

No overage charge applies, but unused miles are typically not refunded or credited — they simply go unused.
